African Adventure 2016
African Adventure 2016 Day 2
Today there were a lot of very tired children but somehow they managed to keep going! Take a look at some of the pictures in the gallery.
The activities included bridge building, minefield clearing and den building. The groups are getting a bit more adventurous and are now working together across schools more effectively. New friendships are being made as well as developing communication skills.
A highlight today was dinner – spaghetti bolognaise and cheesecake.
The evening has finished with hot chocolate and a Winnie the Pooh story.
African Adventure 2016 Day 1
We were put in to 3 groups and completed four team building activities. It was a real challenge trying to get the ball from one side of the grass area to the other – only using drainpipes and gutters. The cones and domes were fun.
The wide game in the afternoon was fun. We had to collect foods and try and get other children’s lives at the same time!
This evening we had a big quiz with African information, proverbs and making animals from play-dough. Hot chocolate at the end of the evening was very nice.

Assessment Information Evening
I would like to say thank you to the parents who were able to attend the Assessment Information evening this week. I appreciate is can be difficult for parents to attend these meetings so the presentation that was used is available here. The materials that were displayed will be available to see at the next parents evening in March.
If you have any questions about the information please do come and ask.
Thank you to all the families who returned our parent views questionnaire. The results help us to know what you feel we are doing well and what we can improve on.
We were delighted to hear that:
- 100% agreed/strongly agreed that their child is happy at school.
- 100% agreed/strongly agreed there is a happy atmosphere in school and they feel welcome in school.
- 100% agreed/strongly agreed that their child is making good progress at Helmingham.
Take a look at more of the results.
